what is the venue capacity?

The venue can comfortably seat 200 utilizing both the State Court Room and the Mezzanine. Please see the rental spaces tab for each room capacity. 

Where can events take place at the museum?

Public space in The Buffalo History Museum’s Pan-American Building is available for rental events. Public space includes the State Court, Mezzanine, Penfold Gallery, Portico, Lawns, and Auditorium.

Where can my ceremony be held?

The ceremony can be held inside or outside the BHM. Many choose to hold their ceremonies on the iconic Portico steps. Others have set up a ceremony in the State Court Room, the Auditorium, or the Portico Penfold Gallery. In addition, there is the option to set up a ceremony on the outdoor terraces. This is all dependent on weather and guest count.

what is the rental period?

Events can be scheduled for a six-hour time slot maximum.  Employees must restore the building back to order and vacate by 1:00 AM.

how do we secure our date?

A 25% deposit and signed contract is necessary to secure your desired date. Please fill out the event inquiry form on the BHM website. Following the initial inquiry, Tappo Catering and the BHM will follow-up if your desired date is available; if not, we will provide alternative dates.

what is the payment schedule?

A 25% deposit will be due the day of signing the event contract and securing your date. 50% will be due 3-4 months before your event, and the remaining 25% will be due 10 days prior to the event.

Is there parking on-site?

There are around 75 parking spaces located at the front entrance of the museum. Alternative parking is available on the street.

what are the catering options?

Full-service catering arrangements must be made through Tappo Restaurant Group, the exclusive caterer of the Museum. Please see the catering options under the Menus tab.

what decorations are allowed?

No decorations may be attached to any portion of the building, interior or exterior. Balloons, bubbles, and glitter are strictly prohibited. Exterior electrical lighting other than existing floodlighting and additional spotlighting for speakers or band platforms is prohibited.
